Indian Currency is called the Rupee.
Available in the demonstration of 1000, 500, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 &1, Indian Currency is called as the Rupee. It is available in denominations of One rupee equals 100 paise. Coins in common use are those of Rs. 5,2,1 and paise 50.
Banks are generally open from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday and 10am - 12 pm on Saturdays. Banks remain close on Sundays and National Holidays. Most of the international banks have their branches in Delhi.
One can easily exchange foreign currency at the hotel or at the airport. You will get the compatible rates with the rates anywhere else if you exchange currency from hotel. The Central Bank of India counter at Ashoka Hotel is open 24hrs as is Thomas Cook. It is advisable to bring currency in American Express or Thomas Cook traveler’s cheques or to draw against your Visa, Amex or Master card.
