  Delhi Metro

Metro rail service in Delhi has come as a boon for the people of Delhi, which has in fact bought a significant change in the public transport system of the city. It has become the "life line" of Delhi as people rely heavily on Delhi Metro for commuting to different places within the city, at a brisk speed.

Delhi Metro Project has been received recognition from across the globe for its specialty in terms of a hi-tech rail and better equipped transport system. The project is under the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, DMRC and it deserve all the credit for improving the public transport service of the city.

Metro rail in the city has reduced the traffic to a great extent as a result the pollution level has certainly declined. Construction of Metro in other parts of the city is still under progress as the network of Delhi Metro is expected to cover almost entire Delhi by the year 2010. Delhi Metro is equipped with modern facilities and the state of art unique design makes it very different from other metro rails across the world. Security within and around the metro rail has been given primary importance.

The train is very reliable as far as the safety of passengers in concerned with hi-tech compartments having adequate security cover. These compartments are fully automatic with gates being functioning automatically and there also exists emergency exits in the train. You can communicate with the driver of the train at any moment in case of an emergency.

Metro Rail stations have been designed keeping in mind the comfort of the passengers as well as the traffic on the road. Each and every station of Delhi Metro has adequate parking space to facilitate hassle free commuting by allowing people to park their vehicles and board the metro to reach their destination. The stations depict an international look and the perfect facilities within the stations make you feel proud of the service offered by DMRC.

The stations are equipped to offer special facilities like escalators and lifts for handicaps and senior citizens. The computerized ticketing system of DMRC makes transit in and out of the metro rail really smooth. DMRC also provides you with the option to own a travel card which would relieve you from standing in queues for buying tokens, if you commute by Metro on daily basis.

Presently metro is operational in some parts of the city but very soon; Delhi Metro will be operational all throughout the city with connectivity even to places like Gurgaon and Noida

Delhi Metro Route

At present three routes are operational within the city which consists of both underground as well as aboveground rail tracks. These operational routes are referred to as red line, blue line and the yellow line. Yellow line (the underground stretch) connects Vishwavidyala that is, Delhi University north campus to Central Secretariat while the blue line operates between IP Extension and Dwarka. Red line connects Shahdara to Rithala and the route intersects at Kashmiri Gate, which is a point of transition for Yellow line. Rajiv Chowk or the Connaught Place perhaps is the point of change for yellow line and blue line travelers.
